Merkur Dosniha: Island Solidarity

MERKUR DOSNIHA, island solidarity.

From the production of protective visors and LU Touch keys using a 3D printer, to a financial donation for research into the eradication of COVID19; this is how Merkur Dosniha works on the islands.

"Wherever we have seen that we could provide our help, whether material, technological or economic, we have extended our hand and will continue to do so as long as we can" explains Carlos Chacón, CEO of Merkur Dosniha.

The Balearic Islands Healthcare Research Institute (IdISBa), with 46 research groups and over 550 researchers, is at the forefront of healthcare research in our country.

"In view of the international pandemic situation of COVID-19, promoting health research aimed at strengthening the fight against the disease, by facing up to scientific, technical and research challenges derived from the health emergency, seemed to us to be the best way to collaborate" Carlos continued.

Donations to the IdISBa are aimed at health research and the effective transfer of the advances made in this research to improve the health of the population. Today's research is tomorrow's medicine and society's support is a key element in this development. For this reason, Merkur Dosniha has not hesitated to collaborate financially in the advancement of research to mitigate the COVID pandemic19.

Also, and through the use of a 3D printer, protective visors for health personnel and key cranks named LU-Touch have been produced so that doctors, nurses or warders can avoid getting infected directly by touching a door knob or a lift button. "It was not easy to obtain the acetate sheets for the manufacture of visors, but seeing our colleague Toni Domenech from the IT department keeping the printer fully operational on a daily basis is reason enough to avoid any difficulties", says Yolanda Barqueros, Assistant Director and CSR Manager.

"I have always been proud of my team, but at the moment I am even prouder. Together with them, I want to send a message of support and encouragement to all those affected by this crisis, and I want to convey to them that we are working towards restoring our industry and bringing it back successfully to where it belongs. These are difficult times and we must all join forces," said Carlos.
